Why Diversity and Inclusion?
Creating a diverse workforce is only the first step to creating a diverse workplace; you also need to foster inclusion.
(People Management, 2019)
It is a well-known fact that diverse teams create a strategic advantage for the organization. They are more innovative, more creative, and come up with better solutions than teams that lack diversity. But this is just the first step.
Leaders must strive to foster a culture of inclusion which enables the diverse team to fully realize its potential. It’s diversity that creates the potential for the different perspectives, ideas, and insights that leads to success. It requires a culture of inclusion in order for that potential to be fully realized. When employees work in a culture of inclusion, they perform better, are retained at a higher rate, and are more likely to be fully engaged in their work.
According to Forbes Magazine, engagement is the emotional commitment an employee has to a company and its goals. Engaged employees work for more than a paycheck; they feel part of the mission of their organization and can, therefore, see how their work plays an important role in moving the company forward and in making a wider impact on customers and even society.
Why Diversity and Inclusion? Because they help the organization win!
